Strategic Marine wins work barge contract

Australian ship builder Strategic Marine has won a contract to supply a 27-metre work barge to service the energy and resources sector in Western Australia's north-west.

The vessel, being built for Karratha business Offshore Plant Hire, will be based in the Port of Dampier and be chartered tomarine operations company Bhagwan Marine. It will service the areas around Dampier, Onslow and Barrow Island and be used primarily for port upgrades, construction support, mooring maintenance and shallow water dive operations.

Strategic Marine's other current projects in the north-west region include construction of work barges for Leighton Contractors and tug pens for Woodside and a range of ship repairs for international ship operators engaged in providing services for the Gorgon Project.
