IMO receives single largest payment from member state

Liberia has paid IMO USD 4.52 million in an annual assessment contribution for 2011, this is the single largest payment the maritime organisation has received at one time from a member state.

The IMO assessment is based on the size of the fleet in the registers of individual countries. The Liberian fleet now exceeds 112 millon GT, making it the world’s second largest ship registry.
