Pirates may have killed another one

There appears virtually no hope of finding the other one of two seamen still unaccounted for onboard the 9,775-dwt Beluga Nomination as its owner pumps millions of dollars into rerouting ships around the Cape of Good Hope to avoid more bloodshed but appeared to admit it has so far shunned private security teams.

The 2006-built heavy-lift vessel was boarded by pirates in the Indian Ocean on 22 January and confirmed hijacked two days later. A failed rescue bid by the Seychelles Coast Guard ended in pirates executing one crew member with at least two others jumping overboard and being rescued by the Danish Navy.

Yeia sou Patricia,

It is really sad to hear news like this especially for a seafarer like me.

With all the govt.agencies and so-called seaman's union that ask for dues from the salary of a seafarer, just hope they would make a bold action to protect us.

A friend of mine, commanding a loaded tanker will arrive at the entrance of GOA (Gulf Of Aden)next week. His wife called me and said she could hardly sleep.

For now, we can only do so much and the rest we will leave to the power of prayers.
