The Danish warship Esbern Snare has released six Somali men, who have been in custody onboard the vessel since December 30, 2010. The men were released as there was not enough with evidence for a conviction in Danish court. The pirates were captured when attacking the Maersk Line container carrier Elly Mærsk.
“It’s simply not good enough”, says a disappointed Fritz Ganzhorn, head of the union Maritime Leader. ”My members are in the front line and they will not be happy that there is no response what so ever from the authorities”. It’s not the first time a Danish warship operating in the area have been forced to released captured pirates.
