Computer games, paperworks, chart corrections, and mobile phone calls. These are some of the things that usually distract seafarers from their jobs onboard international vessel. UK-MIB also warned seafarers of being too complacent with their work onboard, saying that some officer , who are well trained, have good equipment, and are well supported, still ignore instructions and fail to apply basic professional principles. Some of them have failed to watch the radar, look out of the window, or alter course at a waypoint.Some of the equipment rarely used are: waypoint alarms, auto tracking of contacts, CPA/TCPA limits, and depth alarms.
