On Libya Crisis
It is apparent that the Libyan crisis is far from over despite air and naval strikes launched by the US and Western allies. Libyan leader Moamar Gaddafi projects defiance and vowed to defeat his enemies’ further saying that the Libyan people are the country’s air defense, Gaddafi will not hesitate to sacrifice his people as expected; and it appears the civil war is doomed to drag and Libyan deaths are expected to rise. As collateral damage is expected without actually targeting the Libyan leader, the credibility and legitimacy of US’ military role in the region is expected to wane. Moreover, Gaddafi is expected to capitalize on being the “underdog”, while Pres Obama will continue to face strong opposition from home, the Arab League and African nations, and other countries as the “aggressor”.
