Indonesia completed a massive anti-terror drill involving its military and police on March 13, reported the Bernama News Agency.
Although the news story did not say if the drill was a reaction to intelligence reports of an impending terror strike on oil tankers in the Malacca Straits, it cited Tanjung Priok as being one the sites participating in the drill. As part of the drill at Priok, police and military forces were asked to cripple a terrorist group that intended to hijack an oil tanker.
Indonesia has lately been on the alert for terror threats especially in the run-up to US president Barack Obama’s visit.
Saturday’s drill had also included dry runs at the airport, the nation’s stock exchange and other key installations in the country.
