The wittiest strategic advice:
Strategy without tactics is the slowest route to victory. Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat.

The wisest advice on strategy:
Perception is strong and sight weak. In strategy it is important to see distant things as if they were close and to take a distanced view of close things.

Let's arm the crew against the pirates
Preservation of ones life is not only human extinct but an extreme absolute right. With the rise in the incidence of piracy, it is high time thet we train and arm our crew to deter if not repel this barbarians in the high seas. Escalation of violence?? The mere act of resisting their attempts to board using firehoses, etc., could already provoke them or put them on a "high" mode. And you can't fight guns and RPGs with waterhoses!! The only way is to train our crew to handle guns. Maybe we can insert provisions in the STCW for this so that it will not be abused or misused.
"The Strategic Game"
A business man was talking with his barber when they noticed a goofy-looking fellow bouncing down the sidewalk. The barber whisphered "That's Tommy, one of the stupidest kids you'll ever meet, here I'll show you."
"Hey Tommy! Come here!" yelled the barber. Tommy came bouncing over "Hi Mr. Williams" . The barber pulled out a dusty dime and a shiny quarter and told Tommy he could keep one of his choice. Tommy looked long and hard at the dime and quarter and then quickly snapped the dime from the barber's hand. The barber looked at the businessman and said "See I told you."
After his haircut the businessman caught up with Tommy and asked him why he chose the dime.
Tommy looked at him in the eye and said "If I take the quarter, the game is over." =)
